Etsy Fee Calculator
Every fee Etsy takes on a sale — listing, transaction, processing, offsite ads — and the net that lands in your account.
The short answer
Formula. Fees = $0.20 listing + 6.5% of (item + shipping) + 3% of (item + shipping) + $0.25 US payment processing — plus 12–15% offsite ads when an ad brought the buyer.
Example. A $25 item with $6 shipping carries $3.40 in fees and nets $27.61; on an offsite-ads sale at 15%, fees rise to $8.05 and the net is $22.96.

How the math works
An Etsy sale carries up to four separate fees. The listing fee ($0.20) is charged per item sold — it renews or relists. The transaction fee (6.5%) applies to the item price plus whatever you charge for shipping and gift wrap, which surprises sellers who raise shipping to offset fees — the fee follows the shipping. Payment processing is 3% + $0.25 in the US (different in each seller country), charged on the full buyer payment including shipping. And offsite ads — 12% if your shop made under $10k in the last 365 days, 15% above that, where it becomes mandatory — applies only when the buyer clicked one of Etsy's ads, not to organic sales.
Stack them on a $25 item with $6 shipping: $0.20 + 6.5% × $31 ($2.02) + 3% × $31 + $0.25 ($1.18) = $3.40 in fees, netting $27.61 of the $31 collected. The fixed fees are why small items get punished: a $4 sticker sale with free shipping pays $0.51 on $4.00 — nearly 13% before you have bought the label. That percentage falls fast as the item price rises, which is the arithmetic behind "minimum viable price" pricing on Etsy.
The reverse mode solves the stack in one line: price = (target + listing + processing fixed) ÷ (1 − 6.5% − 3% − ads%) − shipping charged. To net $30 on a US sale with $6 shipping and no ads, list at $27.65. The calculator finds it to the cent (the smallest price whose net meets your target), and its fields are all editable — swap in your country's processing rates, or your negotiated listing economics, and the arithmetic still holds. One habit worth stealing: run the numbers with the 15% ads fee before you price, because offsite-ads sales arrive whether you priced for them or not.

Etsy fee FAQs
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes — the 6.5% transaction fee and the processing percentage both apply to the shipping you charge. There is no fee-avoiding split between item price and shipping; only the total matters to the fee math.
What is the offsite ads fee exactly?
A fee on sales Etsy attributes to its own advertising (Google Shopping, social ads). 12% if your shop earned under $10k in the past 365 days and you have not opted out; 15% and mandatory at $10k+. It only hits attributed sales — but budget as if some sales carry it.
How do I see what Etsy actually charged me?
Shop Manager → Finances → Payment account: each transaction lists the fee lines. Reconcile it once against this calculator with your country's processing rate, and you will spot any drift immediately.
Is it better to offer free shipping on Etsy?
Fees are identical either way — total charged is what matters. Free shipping can help search placement and buyer psychology in the US market; price the shipping into the item either way.
